William Caxton introduced the printing press to Britain in 1476. It democratised the dispersal of information. It gave ordinary people the ability to share ideas beyond the controlling influence of church and state. It brought freedom, dissent and revolution. We use ours to make art, probably the most indulgent and unnecessary activity that there is, sorry about that Bill.
